Who can apply for the D7 Visa
This programme is mainly aimed at foreign citizens who are looking to buy an existing company or creating a new one. To be eligible you must also have a business plan, at least 10.000,00€ (approximately 10.500 USD) in a savings account, portuguese health insurance and to rent or buy residential property in Portugal.
Get an European Residence Permit
This programme is the easiest way to get a temporary residence permit that is valid for a period of two years from the date on which the permit was issued, and is renewable for periods of three years. The temporary permit might become permanent after 5 years if the required conditions uphold.

1) Company & Business Plan: You'll need to buy an existing company or create a new one. This operation needs to have a business plan also.

3) Criminal background check: You'll need to provide a criminal background check from your country of origin and any other country where you've lived for more than a year.
4) Housing: You'll need to have a place to live in Portugal, such as a rental agreement or proof of property ownership.

RENEW THE RESIDENCE PERMIT
The first temporary residence permit will be valid for a two year period and renewed for periods of 3 years after that, turning into a permanent residence permit after five years.

Any person that has resided legally in Portugal for at least six years, using either a temporary residence permit, or a permanent residence permit, is qualified for the acquisition of the Portuguese nationality.
